Outstretched Arm

 

Deut 26:8 "And the LORD brought us forth out of Egypt with a mighty hand, and with an outstretched arm, and with great terribleness, and with signs, and with won­ders"

 

Jer. 21:5 "And I myself will fight against you with an out­stretched hand and with a strong arm, even in anger, and in fury, and in great wrath"

 

Jer. 27:5 "I have made the earth, the man and the beast that are upon the ground, by my great power and by my outstretched arm, and have given it unto whom it seemed meet unto me"

 

"Outstretched" Hebrew Lexicon 5186natah = "to stretch out, extend, spread out, to spread out, thrust aside, thrust away" "Arm" Hebrew Lexicon 2220 z@rowa = power, mighty,, strength, arm, as symbol of strength, forces (political and military)

 

From the lexicon we learn Outstretched arm is the spread out strength and might of God. The outstretched arm or might of God will either take us in like a hen her chicks (Matt. 23:37; Luke 13:34) or fight against us with great fury (Rev. 2:16; Acts 5:39; 2 Pet. 3:7-12)
