DOES THE CHURCH HAVE SOUL TODAY? Acts 4:32-37
I. INTRODUCTION:
Close and tender union. More than 5 thousand drawn together in love they had soul.
Webester. Says; Soul is that part of a being that thinks, feels, and makes the body act.
ThesŤ early Christians thought and felt so close that they could say our good are your good.
By this they supported the preaching of the gospel. Many are trying to get the preacher to stop too long etc. Acts 4:33 Gave them the ability to preach. Good singing sincere prayers Christian living the preacher can preach.
II. THE EXPRESSION SOUL IN TV INTERVIEWS ETC.
Soul food. Matt. 4:4 this will truly keep^the church alive. John 6:68
Soulful full of feeling. A religion that is lifeless will never draw men to Christ.
Shakespeare said; "Brevity is the soul of wit."
Those that talk about soul mean there is feeling. God wants his people to be one. If the church is the bride of Christ, and we are married to Christ, Rom. 7:4 Jesus said they are no more twin but one. David and Jonathan in I Sam. 18:1 The soul of Jonathan was knit with soul of David and Jonathan loved him as his own soul.
The Lord prayed that the disciples be one. He needs to pray that prayer again. John 17:20-23
III. WHAT HAVE WE LOST IN OUR 20th CENTURY?
The first century. Poor, aneduciated, limited, only 12 men Acts 1:8; II Cor. 8:1-5; Acts 4:13 You lacked opportunity. Phil. 4:10. Col. 1:23
If we had a few persons like Stephens who would put their lives on the line. Paul Acts 20:24
We need to have the burning zeal of Peter and John Acts 5:41-42; Paul said woe is unto me if I preach not the gospel.
Yes. , the church will have soul when we get back to God's way of doing things.
